About Me
"Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls." -Joseph Campbell
This quote sums up my philosophy as an artist. I believe that if I'm going to work for the rest of my life, I want to be doing something that I absolutely enjoy. I discovered a long time ago that my passion is both writing and filmmaking, and I've maintained these passions throughout college as I prepared myself for my post-graduate career. While writing and filmmaking demand a lot of hard work and effort, I still persevere because it is a labor of love.
Anthony Orlando is a film & English major who spent four years studying at Lafayette College. There, Orlando filmed and starred in his short film projects for class. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he made his Capstone film, which was officially selected for the BFC Short Film Fest 2022. He also adapted it into a feature-length screenplay that was a quarter-finalist in the ISA Horror & Thriller Genre Busting Screenplay Competition.
Originally from Oradell, New Jersey, Orlando has worked in multiple film and writing positions over the years. He started as an intern with Oradell Public Television, where he oversaw video and audio production while filming town hall meetings. At the same time, Orlando worked as an associate director at Red Sand Foundation, Inc., filming non-profit documentaries. He soon volunteered to be a cameraman for Lafayette's football team, filming their practices and assisting in the filming of their games. Orlando then became a production assistant for Courageous Studios as they filmed a segment for CNN Heroes about the Bergen County Housing, Health & Human Services Center and a promo for Good Morning Football. He also worked as an intern at Sloppy Vinyl LLC, where he filmed and edited music videos and promos for local singers, including artist Only Jahmez.
Orlando later branched out into journalism and wrote for BuzzFeed and COED Media, where he expertly reported and analyzed different aspects of pop culture, including film, television, books, music, comics, and video games. He even wrote on the sports blog, Bleeding Yankee Blue, reporting on news concerning baseball, particularly the New York Yankees. He now serves as a freelance writer for Comic Book Resources and Digital Trends Media Group. All in all, Orlando's studies and diverse work experience have culminated in a skilled and ambitious storyteller. Orlando is currently writing a fantasy novel on Wattpad that he hopes to publish officially.
